WHAT GOD IS LIKE—ALL-POWERFUL Romans 8:35-39

The Bible clearly describes the greatness of God: faithfulness, loyal love, omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. Today, we will consider the unlimited, unmatched power of God. God is often called God Almighty, Lord Almighty, or Lord God Almighty. In prayers today, we sometimes hear people begin, ¡°Almighty God,¡± or something similar. Our God is all-powerful. Let us consider this characteristic of God¡¯s nature.
I.        OUR OMNIPOTENT GOD
1.        God¡¯s power is eternal and is revealed in His creation through the spoken word.
¡°For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse¡±  (Romans 1:20).
2.        God has power over all of life—nothing can separate us from God¡¯s love (text).
3.        God has resurrection power over death—which cannot separate us from God.
¡°By his power, God raised the Lord from the dead, & he will raise us also¡± (1 Cor. 6:14).
Our God is a mighty God, a creative God, a miracle-working God! In other words, God is God! God knows everything, is present everywhere, and is all powerful. As the chorus says, ¡°What a mighty God we serve! What a mighty God we serve! Heaven and earth adore Him; angels bow before Him! What a mighty God we serve!¡±
II.        OUR OMNIPOTENT GOD AND JESUS¡¯ LIFE AND MINISTRY
1.        Jesus said that God entrusted Him with all of His power & authority (Matt. 28:18).
2.        Jesus is over every power and authority on earth.
¡°¡±You have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority¡± (Colossians 2:10).
3.        Jesus will ultimately give everything back to Almighty God (1 Cor. 15:24).
Our God is a great and mighty God who has entrusted all things into the hands of His Son. Jesus uses but does not abuse this power and will ultimately give it back to God at the end of this age.
III.        OUR OMNIPOTENT GOD AND OUR LIFE AND MINISTRY
1.        God gives His mighty power to us through His Son and the Holy Spirit.
¡°We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us¡± (2 Corinthians 4:7).
2.        God¡¯s power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).
3.        God gives us power to overcome all of the power of our enemies, including Satan whom God will crush under our feet (Romans 16:20).
¡°I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy¡± (Luke 10:19).
God entrusts His great power to Jesus. Then Jesus entrusts that power to His followers—you and me—so that we can carry out the work of God in our life and ministry. We are to use but not abuse this power so that God might be glorified.
CONCLUSION
When we really believe that God is a great and mighty God, we can then come to trust Him with our lives, our loved ones, and all that we possess. We can trust Him with our future and leave it in His hands. We can allow Him to lead us in all matters of life because we realize that He knows our abilities and gifts and will put them to best use in our life and ministry. When we are faced with trials and temptations, we also realize this truth:
