BE GOD IF HE LIED.
1. God is the author of truth and cannot lie.
(1) Hebrews 6:18—“It is impossible for God to lie.”
(2) Romans 3:4—“Let God be true, and every man a liar.”
(3) Proverbs 12:22—“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.”
Similarly, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life’” (Jn 14:6).
2. Satan is “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44).
(1) Satan lied to Eve in the Garden of Eden—Genesis 3.
(2) Satan lied to Jesus in the wilderness—Matthew 4.
(3) Satan appears as an angel of light so as to deceive God’s people—2 Cor. 11:14.
CONCLUSION
In light of these two great propositions that God would not be God if He did not care for you and me and that He could not be God if He lied, we must accept this glorious conclusion: God DOES care about you and me! God, by His very nature, is a God who loves and therefore cares. He can do no other! Therefore, we should do as our text proclaims: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Yes, ALL your anxiety! We can trust the Lord to care. Our loved ones may not listen. Our friends may not listen. Our preacher, our pastoral staff, our church members may not listen. BUT I promise you: Our Lord will listen!
“O Yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long night dreary,
I know my Savior cares.”
